I’m Ally. I’m 22, and I’m a journalist.

Since graduating in June 2012, I decided to take the unconventional route to graduate employment: instead of finding ‘just a job’ with a half linkedindecent salary, I would chase the dream of being a magazine writer. In the past eighteen months, this has led me in directions that two years ago I wouldn’t have believed were possible.

In 2013 I interned at various magazines including woman&home, Now, more! and Bliss. I freelanced as a styling assistant for fashion and beauty shoots with Now and Teen Now, written columns for thedailytouch.com and pillowmagazine.com, attended London Fashion Week, fronted a global advertising campaign for Intel and appeared in a photoshoot for Empire magazine. It was a hectic year to say the least.

In September 2013, the dream finally realised itself, and I took a Staff Writer job at You & Your Wedding magazine. I work on the digital side of the brand, and have recently stepped up my position to Digital Writer. In early 2014, my work made the front page of the Mail Online with a feature on famous wedding venues.

In my rare snippets of free time, I like to wander round Brick Lane on a Sunday afternoon, spend a disproportional amount of time browsing Zara, moan about other drivers and refresh my twitter feed about a hundred times a day too many. But, I love the countryside in equal measure, and love nothing better than running along a rural lane with the sun on my back.

Late nights and early mornings are a commonplace feature of my everyday. Days off are not.

I specialise in fashion, beauty, fitness and art features, and am particularly interested in all things online and web related.
