Work History

  • March 2014 – Present You & Your Wedding Magazine: Digital Writer

Promotion to Digital Writer position after 6 months as Digital Editorial Assistant.

I work with the Web Editor to create and write content for youandyourwedding.co.uk, with the specific responsibility of promoting the You & Your Wedding Venue Finder project.

Working with the marketing and brand manager, I initiated a social media strategy that saw a 900% week-on-week increase in Facebook followers, and a 400% week-on-week increase in social media engagement. I then continued to work on a demographic-targeted Facebook advertising campaign.

In addition, I continue to work on all the below responsibilities I had as Digital Editorial Assistant.

  • September 2013 – March 2014: You&Your Wedding Magazine: Digital Editorial Assistant

Editorial assistant for You&Your Wedding brand at Immediate Media. As well as writing online articles for youandyourwedding.co.uk – and using a bespoke CMS – I am responsible for the editorial content within the new Venue Finder commercial project.

I set my own editorial schedules, write to tight deadlines, research and manipulate images (Adobe Photoshop), and sub-edit both my own work and that of others. Within the commercial sphere, I work closely with web designers and developers in an agile way, and work closely with the digital product manager to seek solutions and solve problems .

I also use Google Analytics to improve the SEO of the new commercial venture, and MailChimp for the purpose of email marketing. In addition, I am often the first port of call for our B2B clients, and have even made telesales with high profile clients.

  • September 2013 – Present: Freelance Fashion Writer and Blogger

Occasional freelance fashion, lifestyle and occasionally sport and travel writing and blogging projects for clients including Littlewoods, very.co.uk, isme.com and snowangel.com.

  • October 2012 – Present: Freelancer at pillowmagazine.com

I research and write fashion and art features, and attend press previews. This has involved attending the main shows at London Fashion Week, beauty launches from the likes of Mac and Nuxe, attending the press preview of the David Bowie Is exhibition, and chasing the hottest new products and events.

  • July 2013: Woman & Home Magazine: Online Intern

Month working with the online desk at Woman & Home magazine. I founded the daily ‘best dressed’ feature, managed the ‘best beauty buy’ feature, wrote book, travel and beauty features, and liaised with various PRs.

  • June 2013 – Present: IPC Media: Freelance Fashion and Beauty Styling Assistant

Assisting the fashion editor on fashion and beauty shoots on a freelance basis. This has involved working with celebrities and top models, preparing clothes and looks for shoots, and assisting tirelessly on the day to ensure we have the best pictures possible.

  • May-June 2013: Now Magazine: Web Intern

Month internship with the online desk at Now magazine. This involved using the CMS to upload and create online features and galleries. Working in a very fast-paced environment, I wrote with SEO best practise in mind at all times, and self-subbed.

  • April 2013: More! Magazine: Editorial Work Placement

Two week placement with the features team at More! magazine. Feature research and generally assisting the editors. I also inadvertently made an appearance in a photoshoot for Empire magazine.

  • March 2013- Present: Blog Columnist for Huff Post Style

I occasionally publish opinion pieces on current issues within the fashion world.

  • January 2013: Bliss Magazine: Editorial Work Experience.

Week placement with the features team at this market-leading teen title.

  • September 2012: Intel Ultrabook Project with MRM Meteorite

I was chosen to represent that fashion industry in a global advertising campaign for the Intel Ultrabook. I helped write the campaign script, and presented it. The campaign has since been subtitled and released worldwide via social media.

  • August 2012- April 2013: The Daily Touch Fashion Columnist

Writing both fashion and beauty articles for this student and graduate website. My articles regularly went viral on social media, and were continually ranked very highly on the site’s ‘most read’ bar.

Education

  • BA (Hons) English from Durham University. Graduated in June 2012 with a high 2:1 (68%).
  • Additional modules studied in History of Art, attaining a Double First (80%).
  • AAAA at A Level: English Literature, German, History and Biology, attaining full marks in over a third of all modules.
  • Additional A at AS Level Art where I received a commendation from Edexcel as the most promising art talent in the UK.
  • Advanced Extension Award: History (Merit).
  • 10A*s and 1A at GCSE.

  • I speak very good conversational German, and enjoy German contemporary cinema, literature and culture.
  • I am resident make-up artist at Northiam Showtimers UK, creating stage make-up looks.
  • I am a keen runner and will be running a half-marathon in early 2014.
